NOW: Elkhart welcomes new multi-million-dollar streetscape project

ELKHART, Ind. -- A new view for the city with a heart, as Elkhart unveils a vibrant new gateway today.

People can now enjoy more green space at a new 'micro park' located in front of the Cracker Barrel restaurant, just off the Indiana Toll Road at Exit 92.

Mayor Rod Roberson says it will serve as a welcoming greeting to anyone arriving and will foster a stronger sense of civic pride for residents.

"This is a neighborhood relationship, even though it duels as our entry port for the city of Elkhart. But up here, the people that have businesses up here, that live up here, they have an understanding of this corner and what, how to navigate it, and so for them to see it every day, it's important for us to make sure that it is as attractive and as beautiful as any other area of the city," stated Roberson.

This eight-million-dollar investment is part of Elkhart's larger 'Aspire' Investment Program, focused around four pillars; public safety, infrastructure, quality of place, and neighborhoods.
