Elkhart Police actively investigating shooting, victim in stable but serious condition

ELKHART, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Elkhart Police Department is actively investigating a Tuesday evening shooting, in which left a 46-year-old woman shot in the 2800 block of S. Main Street in Elkhart.

She was taken to Memorial Hospital where, at last information, she remains in stable but serious condition.

This remains an ongoing investigation, and no suspect has been arrested at this time.

ORIGINAL STORY: July 2 at approximately 10:10 p.m. the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center received a call about a shooting with an injury in the 2800 block of South Main Street.

The Elkhart City Police and first responders responded to the call, and upon arrival discovered a female with a gunshot wound, who was then transported to Elkhart General Hospital for treatment.

This remains an active investigation for the Elkhart Police Department and the public is asked to avoid the area of South Main Street, between Garden Blvd and Kelsey Avenue, for the foreseeable future.
