Elkhart County Sheriff's Department to hold open memorial service for fallen officers

ELKHART, Ind. -- To celebrate the beginning of National Police Week, the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department will be holding a memorial service in honor of officers who have given their lives.

While National Peace Officers Day is Sunday, the memorial service will be held on Tuesday at Kardzhali Park at 11 a.m., and the community is invited to attend.

The department will also highlight and honor the five Elkhart police officers who have died in the line of duty each day this week through social media posts.
