ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Mayor Rod Roberson gave his State of the City address Thursday at the Lerner Theater.
In the mayor's opening remarks, he said that this year is the year where the city's goals begin to take shape due to the new Aspire Program- which focuses on four core categories: infrastructure, public safety, quality of place, and neighborhoods.
Later in his address, the mayor acknowledged the city's violent start to 2026, as well as the positive strides that the city has taken at the same time, stating that crime in Elkhart decreased by thirty-three percent across all categories last year.
The mayor covered a wide range of topics in his address, including rental property inspections, fire department upgrades, street improvements, and the impact of state budget cuts. Watch our video for more.
