6th Annual Juneteenth Celebration held today in Niles
ELKHART, Ind. -- Once again for this year's Ash Wednesday, the First Presbyterian Church in Elkhart offered its "Ashes to Go" experience, inviting anyone in the community to take part.
The "drive-thru" style devotional experience was offered Feb. 18 from 8 to 10 a.m. as well as 4-6 p.m.
"...ashes to go is a is a brief devotional experience for people who are working and busy and can't make their church's Ash Wednesday service or maybe don't have a church home." Said Pastor Sally Wicks. "So, we have a lovely portico outside so that people can drive right up to the door, and then it is sheltered, and then we meet them right in their cars. They roll down their windows, there's a brief scripture reading and a prayer, and then we sign them with the cross with ashes either on their hands or on their foreheads."
