Election Results: St. Joseph County Commissioner, Council races

ST. JOSEPH COUNTY, Ind. -- There was one open St. Joseph County Commissioner seat (District 3) this election cycle and republican incumbent Tony Hazen has retained his seat.

With 100 percent of precincts reports, Hazen took home 21,163 votes, good for 60 percent of all votes cast. His challengers, democrat Joseph Carbone and libertarian Amanda Mitchell collected 12,685 (36 percent) and 1,717 (five percent) votes, respectively. 

There were three open seats on the St. Joseph County Council in Districts D, F, and I. 

Democrat Jenn Shabazz won the race in District D, defeating Indiana Redemption Party candidate Maria Fleming, 5,416 votes to 1,130.

In District F, republican incumbent Randy Figg won by a margin of 68 percent (9,343 votes) to 32 percent (4,332 votes) over democratic challenger Charlotte Wolfe. 

The District I race was won by republican Andy Rutten who got 7,281 votes (61 percent). He beat out democratic candidate Tami Springer who garnered 4,625 votes (39 percent).
