MISHAWAKA, Ind. – The Mishawaka Parks and Recreation Department is hosting a helicopter Easter candy drop Sunday, April 10 at 1 p.m. in Central Park.
A portion of the park has been divided into four sections for kids ages two to 10. The park's superintendent said they’re expecting a lot of people out during the event.
“I would imagine we’ll have two to 3,000 people, maybe even more. It kind of just depends on the weather. But, we’re ready for however many people show up, we’re ready to have a good time,” Phil Blasko said.
The helicopter will make the drop at 2:45 p.m. where 15,000 pieces of candy will be dropped down for kids to grab. The event will also feature free face paintings, inflatables, food trucks, arts and craft vendors, and of course the Easter Bunny. There will also be 30,000 Easter eggs for kids to find.
“This is a kind of a kick-off to all our events that we host throughout the year. It is awesome to see how many people come out to enjoy the event, all the smiling faces. It’s a lot of hard work that goes into setting these events up, but it’s worth it when you see all the kids smiling and having a good time,” Blasko said.
The event runs from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. in Central Park.
Kids should bring their own baskets to carry all the candy and Easter eggs. Keep in mind, that parents are not allowed on the grass.
