Early morning fire at Main Channel marina on Lake Wawasee
SYRACUSE, Ind. -- UPDATE TWO: Officials with Main Channel have released an expanded statement regarding Thursday's fire at their Lakeside location.
Main Channel's expanded statement:
"In the early hours of November 7, Main Channel, located 720 S. Lakeside Drive experienced a fire at our Lakeside location. Thanks to the swift response of local firefighters, the fire was contained quickly, preventing injuries and protecting all customer property.
Main Channel is cooperating fully with fire officials as we investigate the cause and assess the damage. We are working diligently to determine the next steps for our facility and remain committed to keeping our customers and community informed.
We appreciate the patience and support of our employees, customers, and community as we work through this challenging time. Updates will be provided as more information becomes available.
Main Channel extends its deepest gratitude to the first responders and the entire Wawasee community for their outpouring of support during this challenging time. 'We feel incredibly fortunate to be part of such a caring and resilient community,' said Brian Schlagenhauf, Owner. 'The bravery and dedication shown by our firefighters have deeply inspired us, and we are truly thankful for their actions in protecting our team and customers.'

UPDATE: The Kosciusko County Emergency Management Agency reports runoff from Thursday's fire at Main Channel has necessitated the use of hydrophobic booms to absorb oils and hydrocarbons on the surface of the water south of the marina.
Officials ask that you do not disturb the booms or run over them with a boat.
The booms are described as red and white.
Officials say the booms will be removed by IDEM in a few days.

ORIGINAL STORY: Kosciusko County Dispatch confirmed to ABC57 the Turkey Creek Fire Territory responded to Main Channel marina on Lake Wawasee after a call came in about explosions there just before 3 a.m., Thursday.
Five fire crews responded in total according to officials.
Flames could be seen from miles away.
Officials with Main Channel shared the following statement via their Facebook page:
"Firstly, we want to express our deepest gratitude to the incredible first responders and the Wawasee community for the overwhelming support during this time.
In the early hours of November 7th, a fire broke out at our Lakeside location, and thanks to the swift, courageous actions of our local firefighters, the fire was quickly contained.
We’re incredibly thankful that no one was injured, and no customer property was harmed. We feel blessed to be part of such a caring and resilient community, and we’re inspired by the bravery of those who acted so selflessly to protect our team and our customers.

There's no word on the cause of the fire at this time.
