Driver loses control, crashes car into trees Tuesday morning in Cass County

CASS COUNTY, Mich. - The Cass County Sheriff’s Office reports on Tuesday, June 11 around 7:50 a.m., deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on Pine Lake Street east of Daily Road in Jefferson Township.

The driver, identified as 33-year-old Kieffer Thornton of Niles, told authorities he was traveling east on Pine Lake Street when he lost control of his car and drove off the roadway, striking several trees.

The report states Thornton was not wearing his seatbelt and alcohol and drugs don't appear to be a factor in the crash.

Thornton was taken to the hospital for his injuries.
