PITTSBURGH -- A former Notre Dame and University of Pittsburgh quarterback is in custody after allegedly stealing a truck from a hospital parking lot.

According to our reporting partners at WTAE, Phil Jurkovec was arrested and taken into custody Friday.

Police say he allegedly climbed into the cab of a rental company's truck as a worker was loading tables and chairs used at a function. Police reportedly located the truck with the help of the truck's GPS device.

He was charged with theft by unlawful taking and one count of receiving stolen property.

Jurkovec remains in custody. His preliminary hearing is set for September 30.

He played for the Fighting Irish during the 2018 and 2019 seasons, before moving to Boston College in 2020. He finished his college career at Pitt in 2023.
