Driver ignores stop sign, causes crash in Elkhart County Monday
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office responded to a crash between two vehicles at the intersection of C.R. 5 and C.R. 2 on Monday afternoon.
Authorities say around 1:28 p.m. on Jan. 20, a 2019 Chevrolet Equinox was being driven southeast on C.R. 5 by a 34-year-old Elkhart woman. As the driver approached the intersection, authorities say a 2024 Hyundai Palisade was being driven east on C.R. 2 by 49-year-old Jennifer Stabler, Bristol.
When Stabler approached the intersection, she failed to yield the right-of-way and caused the collision.
"[The Hyundai] was eastbound on C.R. 2 at C.R. 5, and had a stop sign," the ECSO said. "[The Hyundai] proceeded into the intersection of C.R. 5 and C.R. 2, failing to yield the right of way to [the Chevy] and causing [the two] to collide."
The driver of the Chevy was taken to Beacon Granger ER for treatment of chest pain and Stabler was cited for Disregarding Stop Sign (Failure to Yield Right of Way).
