Driver enters diversion agreement following Reckless Driving charge for passing stopped school bus

GOSHEN, Ind. -- According to a Nappanee City Court document dated Oct. 15, Sherlyn Moran Gonzalez entered a pre-trial diversion agreement after being charged with Reckless Driving for passing a stopped school bus with stop arm extended.

The incident occurred around 8:47 a.m. on April 23, 2024, in the area of Brookside Manor.

Dashcam video from the bus showed the incident occur.

The Nappanee City Court Clerk told ABC57 if Gonzalez completes the diversion program, the charges will be dropped.

If she fails to follow the agreement, she will be prosecuted again.

The agreement states Gonzalez must not be charged with a criminal offense within one year period from the date of the agreement and to pay the diversion fee and court costs, a total of $454.50, to the city court clerk.

She will also be required to complete a driver's safety program and 72 hours of community service.
