WATCH: Security footage shows carjacking at St. Joe Dunkin Donuts Friday morning
ST. JOSEPH, Mich. -- UPDATE: ABC57's Kyle Ennis spoke with the victim, identified as 20-year-old Morgan Shell, about her experience.
Shell said she was getting her morning coffee just before 8 a.m., when a carjacker ran to her unlocked vehicle.
When the suspect got into the car, Shell ran over to the car with a bystander and tried to pull the man out.
The man backed the car out, knocking Shell over and nearly running over her foot. The man then sped out of the parking lot.
Shell stated, "I feel extremely lucky even though, considering the circumstance like, wrong place, wrong time. That kind of sucks. But I you know, I’m lucky it’s just a sprain rather than him running over my foot and everything.”
Shell says she was able to track the car for police using an air tag.
The suspect was later arrested by Indiana State Police following a high-speed chase across the state line.
The suspect was traveling more than 100 miles per hour at times, according to police.
Authorities say the investigation is ongoing.
