Driver arrested for OWI after crashing into side of horse and buggy, leaving two injured
ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to S.R. 4 and C.R. 127 for a crash involving a pickup truck and a horse and buggy around 6:02 p.m., Saturday.
The report states a 2022 GMC pickup truck, driven by 24-year-old Daniel Beiler of Gap, Pa., was traveling west on S.R. 4 when it hit a horse and buggy's rear passenger side while it was also traveling west.
The buggy's occupants included the driver, a 34-year-old Goshen man, and passengers including a 30-year-old woman, 6-year-old boy, 8-year-old boy, and 1-year-old girl.
The woman complained of chest pain, while the 6-year-old boy suffered a laceration above his eye.
The boy and the woman were both taken to Goshen Hospital.
Deputies say Beiler was found to be operating a vehicle while intoxicated and was incarcerated at the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Office.
No other injuries were reported.
