Dirt biker suffers broken ankle, hip, nose after driver fails to yield

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- The Elkhart County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to the area of Boss Boulevard and Spring Avenue around 8:03 p.m. Monday for a two-vehicle crash.
The report states a 2010 Honda minivan, driven by a 21-year-old Constantine, Mich. man, was traveling southeast on Spring Avenue before stopping at the intersection with Boss Boulevard.
Deputies say a homemade dirt bike, operated by a 28-year-old Elkhart man, was traveling north on Boss Boulevard approaching the intersection with Spring Avenue.
Authorities say the Honda driver failed to yield the right of way to the dirt bike, causing a collision.
The Honda driver was uninjured while the 28-year-old was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital for treatment of a broken ankle, hip, and nose.
The crash remains under investigation.
