Deputies serve search warrant as part of narcotics investigation

HARTFORD, Mich. -- Deputies with the Narcotics Unit of the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office executed a search warrant at a home in the city of Hartford as part of an investigation into methamphetamine trafficking.

The search warrant was obtained following an investigation into the sale of methamphetamine over the course of the last five months.

Inside the home, deputies located three people in an upstairs bedroom who were the primary focus of the investigation.

On the first floor, detectives found a woman in the kitchen and one in the bathroom. Both were detained.

A man who was in a bedroom on the first floor attempted to keep deputies from entering the room, but they were able to force the door open, deputies said.

A woman who was also in the room was detained on outstanding warrants.

Deputies said several people inside the home were in possession of methamphetamine and other narcotics. The case information is being forwarded to the prosecutor's office for possible charges.
