VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- Deputies are asking for the public's help to identify a man seen in surveillance photos who is accused of stealing a woman's purse at a gas station.

The incident happened at the Sister Lakes Marathon on M152 in Sister Lakes on Sunday evening around 10 p.m.

The victim told the Van Buren County Sheriff's Office she had been pumping gas, then went into the store to purchase some items.

When she returned to her vehicle she discovered her purse was missing.

Several witnesses provided information to deputies about the suspect. He is described as a Hispanic male, 30-35 years old, wearing an orange baseball hat and black t-shirt.

He was driving a crossover SUV or minvan.

The sheriff's office has released surveillance photos of the suspect.
