Deputies identify driver killed in crash on US 6

LA PORTE COUNTY, Ind. -- The woman who was killed in a crash on US 6 Friday morning has been identified, according to the La Porte County Sheriff's Office.
The head-on collision happened just before noon in the 8200 block of US 6 between a pickup truck and a Rav-4.
The driver of the Rav-4 who died at the scene was identified as 29-year-old Taren Abair of Grovertown, Indiana.
The driver of the pickup truck was identified as 60-year-old John Niego of Michigan City. He was transported to the hospital by helicopter for treatment of his injuries.
The crash remains under investigation.
