SOUTH BEND, Ind. — An early morning house fire forced crews to block off Elmer Street and Lincolnway.
Firefighters responded to a vacant house fire on North Elmer Street in South Bend at around 12:15 Friday morning.
It took nearly 30 firefighters to put out the flames.
The battalion chief says the fire spread very quickly to the second floor. Crews were able to stop the fire before it got out of control.
Investigators are not sure what started the fire.
