SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Large fights broke out outside of two bars over the holiday weekend.
South Bend Police were called out to Linden Grill after fights broke out outside at 11:24 p.m. Friday evening.
Then to Franks Place at 12:40 a.m. Saturday morning where one was arrested at that time for resisting law enforcement and disorderly conduct.
SBPD confirming there were over 100 people at each scene, but could not confirm whether or not they were the same.
A spokesperson for SBPD said, “When responding to scenes of that size, when people outnumber officers, the number one priority is safety.”
Twenty officers responded to the scene at Frank’s Place.
Council Member At Large Dr. Oliver Davis Jr. shared his frustrations after seeing video of the brawl outside Frank’s Place.
Neighbors are calling for the bar to be shut down after recent incidents.
“The city team works day and night to keep our community safe, welcoming and vibrant. I applaud our officers for their swift action and efforts to bring accountability to those responsible for this unacceptable violence,” said Mayor James Mueller in a statement.
