One year ago, showers and thunderstorms delayed the start of the 2024 edition of the Indianapolis 500 by nearly three hours.
This year, showers will once again be within driving distance of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway on race day. However, the impact of the rain should be far less this time around.
The entire weekend will feature below normal temperatures with highs in the 60s and low 70s. Central Indiana will likely see a mixture of sun and clouds Friday and Saturday, with the best weather likely arriving on Saturday.
Clouds will move in on Sunday, with light showers possible at times on Sunday. However, as of Thursday evening, the best rain chances will likely drive in after the race is over.
If you are planning on heading to the Speedway, you may want a jacket or sweatshirt. Green flag temperatures will likely be in the lower to middle 60s with daytime highs fighting to get to 70 degrees.
