Giden was sentenced on Dec. 17, 2025, to 16 years in prison, followed by two years in St. Joseph County Corrections, and another two years of probation.
Micou was shot in the neck according to the official police report.
He was then taken to the hospital where he became dependent on machines to breathe and maintain vital functions, with irreversible loss of brain functions resulting in cerebral death.
Micou was later pronounced dead.
