The House voted a third time to elect a new speaker amid the Israeli-Hamas war and looming government shutdown coming November 17.
The position lies between Ohio's Jim Jordan, former President Donald Trump's nominee, and New York's Hakeem Jeffries.
On Friday, Jordan failed again to garner enough votes.
Indiana Congressman Jim Banks spoke with ABC57 on Thursday to address the standstill.
In lieu of the Democratic Party in control of the Administration and Senate, Banks doesn't want to see power handed over to the Democratic Party.
"Right now, Jim Jordan is our choice," said Banks. "He is the obvious, best pick, to put in the Speaker's chair to fight back against the radical Democrats. He has my full support. I'm gonna vote for him as long as it takes to make him the speaker."
Banks continued to say that a few Republicans have been neglecting to vote for Jordan due to their "petty differences" with him, but he says they need to put that aside.
"This would be a giant betrayal of the voters who gave us this incredible opportunity to lead if we if we vote, to give away the majority to the Democrats," said Banks. "I'm not going along with that this is already a historic embarrassment for Republicans."
