Community invited to cheer on students at Unified Champions Game Day
Elkhart Community Schools ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart Community Schools is inviting families, staff, and the community to cheer on the elementary students Thursday at Unified Champions Game Day.
The event brings together students from Mary Beck, Cleveland, Eastwood, Riverview, and Roosevelt for a day of competition, encouragement, and celebration.
Students with differing physical and intellectual abilities will compete while paired with peer buddies who will support and encourage them throughout the day.
It will be hosted at the Elkhart High School track and soccer field at 2608 California Rd. from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
District officials say the event aims to create meaningful opportunities for all students to connect, compete, and succeed together.
Planned events include the 25-meter and 50-meter run/walk, 25-meter hurdles, 100-meter relay, tennis ball throw, softball throw, and long jump.
Organizers say the events allow students to participate at their own ability level.
