City of South Bend announces investment in Beacon Heights Apartments
City of South Bend SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The City of South Bend is partnering with a developer on improvements to an apartment complex.
Officials announced a partnership with L+M Development Partners on a rehabilitation and preservation project for Beacon Heights Apartments.
According to a press release, the multi-million-dollar project will support renovation of all existing housing units to ensure affordability and improve conditions. Officials say the project will be structured in a way that will not displace current residents during construction.
Under the proposed agreement, L+M will complete the full renovation, pursue Low-Incoming Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC), and maintain ownership for at least 15 years.
The city will provide $1.25 million in financing through a loan that could be forgiven upon the project's completion.
Construction is expected to begin in the coming months. The aim for completion is June 2030.
