Nine arrested in large-scale Berrien County prostitution investigation

BERRIEN COUNTY, Ind. -- Nine people have been arrested or cited in a large prostitution demand reduction operation in Berrien County.

According to a new release from the Berrien County Sheriff's Department, investigators contacted 50 individuals over the course of the investigation. It resulted in several arrests, including three felony arrests and the recovery of a gun and cocaine.

Michigan State Police SWET-West, Pokagon Tribal Police Department, and Nottawaseppi Huron Band Tribal Police Department assisted in this investigation.

The individuals cited or arrested are as follows:

  • Michael Baughman, 51, of Granger, IN – Solicitation of a Prostitute, Carrying a
    Concealed Weapon 

  • Roberto Gonzales Jr, 26, of Goshen, IN – Solicitation of a Prostitute
  • Steven Saylor, 43, of Benton Harbor, MI – Solicitation of a Prostitute, Parole
    Violation

  • Travis Compton, 46, of Benton Harbor, MI – Solicitation of a Prostitute,
    Possession of Cocaine

  • Julio Vail-Vasquez, 32, of Guatemala – Solicitation of a Prostitute, Resisting and
    Obstructing

  • Frederick Trumble, 70, of Plainwell, MI – Solicitation of a Prostitute
  • Joel Rydecki, 39, of Flint, MI – Solicitation of a Prostitute
  • Fred Hakulinke, 29, of Kalamazoo, MI – Solicitation of a Prostitute
  • Joshua Fulton, 21, of Benton Harbor, MI – Solicitation of a Prostitute
