9-year-old hit by car in Elkhart

ELKHART, Ind. -- A 9-year-old girl was injured after being hit by a car on State Road 4 Sunday night, according to the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.
Just before 8:30 p.m., a Michigan man was driving eastbound on S.R. 4, east of County Road 35, when the girl allegedly walked in front of his vehicle.
The driver tried to swerve out of the way but hit the girl with the front passenger side of his vehicle.
She was taken to the hospital for various internal and external injuries.
The driver was not injured.
