NOW: Celebrity fashion designer’s pop-up shop empowers prom queens with custom giveaways

OSCEOLA, Ind. -- Prom season is just around the corner and finding the perfect dress may be a challenge, but an Atlanta-based fashion designer is bringing a pop-up shop to Osceola.

Jessica Hayes is a fashion designer on tour bringing high fashion city to city giving girls a chance to feel like royalty on prom night.

“I am looking forward to seeing someone here in Indiana to feel the most beautiful that they can and have an opportunity to get a free prom dress so that just takes the burden off of a mom or dad that is looking to have a dress for their daughter,” said Hayes. “A dress that has never been seen or thought of by anyone else because it’s custom to them.”

The designer learned how to sew from her next-door neighbor in her hometown Birmingham, Ala., which sparked her passion for creativity.

After nearly a decade in fashion, she turned her business, House of Avid, into a pop-up shop. It once started in a hotel room that has now grown into the ninth annual Prom Queen Pop-Up Shop Tour.

The 2025 Prom Queen Pop-Up Shop tour will be this Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at Tera Lee’s Formal, giving you the chance to leave with the prom dress you've always dreamed of.

Every prom queen deserves a show stopping dress and one lucky teen will walk away with a free custom-made dress designed by Hayes that’s worth at least $1,500.

There will be a variety of custom gowns, styling consultations, and even a chance to win a free custom prom dress, a process that normally takes 10-12 weeks to create.

The best part is that there is still time to join. The fashion designer is giving prom-goers the chance to shop, style, and leave with their custom dress in hand.

“I sit down, and we can talk about fabrics, I sketch out dresses, I pull all of the ideas out of their head so we can actually bring it to life,” said Hayes. “We can make those adjustments or 'oh hey, I like this pink dress, but I think I want it in blue not pink,' we can change that, we can change the colors of the rhinestones, we can change the color of the fabric. It’s custom so you can pretty much do anything you want to do."

The first 10 people will receive 10 percent off their purchase and there will be giveaways throughout the event.

Hayes is known for giving local teens the chance to have that one-of-a-kind dress you have never seen before. You may have seen her collection featured on the Fox Network, Black Lightning, and Married to Medicine, as well as for hit R&B singer K. Michelle.

Her mission is beyond the pop-up shop as she continues to partner with a non-profit in her hometown donating dresses to high school cheerleaders.

Tickets can be found here, to secure your spot at the 2025 Prom Queen Pop-Up Shop. If you want to view examples of the designer’s work, you are encouraged to connect with her on Instagram and Facebook.
