Car crashes over railing, catches fire Sunday night in Elkhart County

ELKHART, Ind. -- UPDATE: The Elkhart Police Department reports a call came into the Elkhart City 911 Communications Center at around 9:50 p.m., Sunday, for a crash in the 3700 block of E. Jackson Boulevard.

Authorities' initial investigation determined it was a single-vehicle crash.

The report states the vehicle went through the stop sign at E. Jackson Boulevard and Middleton Run Road when the vehicle hit the guardrail and caught fire with the front end in the river.

The Elkhart Fire Department responded and extinguished the fire.

The driver, identified as a minor, was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and did not report any injuries.

ORIGINAL STORY: A vehicle crashed over a railing at Middleton Run Road and East Jackson Boulevard around 10 p.m., Sunday night according to a witness.

There's been no reports of injuries at this time.
