ELKHART, Ind. -- Elkhart County Police arrived to a crash Friday afternoon on US 33 that involved three vehicles which eventually turned fatal.
Police reported that a vehicle was traveling northwest and crossed into oncoming traffic on US 33 just east of the intersection of CR31 before the accident unfolded.
One vehicle traveling southeast swerved off the west side US 33 after colliding with the initial vehicle, police say.
Police reported another southeast bound vehicle also struck the initial vehicle.
The driver that was northwest bound, Elkhart resident Paul Verhof, was then flown to Parkview Hospital where he later died due to injuries sustained from the crash, police say.
Drivers of the two other vehicles were taken to Goshen hospital by ambulance with injuries that were not life-threatening.
Passengers were treated for their injuries at the sight of the crash and declined further medical attention.
The investigation of this crash is currently pending.
