Constitution Day celebration at Indiana University

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Indiana University held a celebration on campus to mark Constitution Day.

On Sept. 17, 1788, the Founding Fathers signed the Constitution. That constitutional convention in Philadelphia began the state-by-state ratification that lasted until 1790. The approval was then adopted on July 2, 1790.

"We hope that people will understand that the Constitution is something that can unify us in terms of an understanding of how the government is created and the rights that we have, but also something that makes us realize that everything's not in that document. Understanding what our politics will look like, what rights we have, how we treat each other, really is up to each of us collectively to work together and decide what our country will be in the future." says Elizabeth Bennion, IU South Bend Political Science Professor.

Students at IU celebrated by playing several quizzes with Kahoot, and all of the questions were surrounding the Constitution letting them dig deeper into how the document unifies our country.
