Buchanan welcomes first-ever skateboard shop

BUCHANAN, Mich. -- The Hometown and Co. business incubator in downtown Buchanan has welcomed a new business after its successful open late last year.

The Sunflower Skate Shop is the newest member of the location that is designed to help businesses get off the ground without the overhead costs that come with renting/buying a location.

"As a small family-owned business, Sunflower Skate Shop is dedicated to fostering and promoting the skateboarding culture in southwest Michigan," said Ashley Regal, manager of Hometown and Co.

The shop offers ready-to-ride boards as well as all the custom parts for skaters to create their own unique setup.

"We are delighted to welcome Sunflower Skate Shop to The Hometown & Co Business Incubator," said Regal. "[Owner] Jason [Kelly's] passion for skateboarding and dedication to community engagement align perfectly with our mission to support innovative small businesses. We look forward to collaborating closely with Sunflower Skate Shop to nurture their growth and success."

The shop offers traditional skateboards as well as longboards for casual riders.
