SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- Bright Beginnings Childcare announced they're launching the "Hot Car Initiative" in partnership with Storkii, which will offer free childcare in South Bend during hot weather.

Officials say if the temperature is over 75 degrees, a family can receive one hour of emergency childcare for free.

Families must pre-register online as is legally required for licensed daycares.

“Because life happens. And even good parents can find themselves in bad situations. We’re here to be a safe backup plan,” says Ramal Taylor, founder of both Bright Beginnings and the tech startup Storkii.

“To help prevent the unthinkable before it happens, we are here. There have been too many news reports of babies’ lives lost. This is about saving lives, not assigning blame. Let’s protect our babies together. One hour of free drop-in.”
