Driver located after leaving scene of deadly crash with pedestrian

OSCEOLA, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Prosecutor's Office announced FACT has been activated after a deadly crash occurred between a vehicle and a pedestrian in the 10200 block of Jefferson Boulevard around 6:09 a.m. Monday.
Police responded to the scene for a pedestrian who appeared to have been struck by a vehicle.
The driver did not remain on scene.
When medics arrived, the victim, later identified as a 31-year-old man from Washington D.C., was said to be in grave condition.
The St. Joseph County Fatal Crash Team was then activated, pursuant to protocol.
Police say initial reports determined the victim was walking down Jefferson Boulevard when he was struck by an eastbound vehicle.
He was taken to the hospital, where he died from his injuries later in the day.
The driver of the vehicle, now identified as 18-year-old Liliia Hrushka of Goshen, has since been located and is cooperating with investigators.
Hrushka was uninjured.
The crash remains under investigation by FACT.
