BMV announces closure of Walkerton branch

The Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced Wednesday the Walkerton branch will permanently close December 3.

Staff and other resources from the branch will move to other nearby branches.

Walkerton residents can access branches in Nappanee, Plymouth, Goshen and La Porte.

The Nappanee branch operates two days a week, Wednesday and Friday, through December 3.

“Speaking with the Walkerton residents at the public hearing it was evident they are very passionate about their community. The decision to close Walkerton and adjust Nappanee’s hours came after thorough review of community feedback as well as an assessment of both branches and the surrounding area. Transferring resources is the BMV’s best option to provide the most innovative and customer-focused government service possible,” said Commissioner Peter L. Lacy.
