NOW: Bethany Christian School students to honor late teen at sectional game

GOSHEN, Ind.— Students and staff at Bethany Christian School in Goshen are still mourning the loss of 18-year-old Keshawn Smith, who died while driving to visit Huntington University; they plan to honor him at a sectional basketball game Friday.

Smith was killed in a head-on accident on February 23rd when his car drifted across the center-line into oncoming traffic on his way t, authorities say.

Smith was the captain of both the soccer and basketball teams at BCS and is fondly remembered.

"He is a very good basketball player. He is a good soccer player but really his leadership, his excitement, how he gets others excited for the game really are contributions above what he individually does," said Hank William, Bethany Christian Principal and Soccer Coach.

The late teen will be honored at the basketball game against Fremont High School at Friday, March 1st’s sectional game.

Bethany will bus any Bethany students that want to attend the game  which begins at 6 p.m. for free.

Smith’s memorial service will be held Saturday the 2nd at Crossroads Community Church at 2.pm.
