BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Instead of a snow day, kids in Benton Harbor will get a summer day.
Superintendent Dr. Leonard Seawood contacted ABC 57 News to let us know that summer school has been canceled on Tuesday due to the high heat.
The decision affects all locations in the district that host the Summer School Program.
The superintendent told us that none of the buildings have air conditioning and fans are just not enough relief in this extreme heat.
The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Tuesday. Temperatures are expected to reach near 100 degrees on Tuesday afternoon. The heat index ranges from 100 to 105 degrees.
