Benton Harbor lead pipes replacement project making progress

BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- Construction crews have been making steady progress on fixing Benton Harbor’s lead pipes.

As of today, over 3,000 of the city’s 4,000 lead service lines have now been checked, and if necessary, removed and replaced.

With over 500 completed in the past month alone, just under 70 percent of the total work needed to restore clean and safe drinking water to the city is complete.

The entire restoration project is scheduled to finish in ten months.
