BENTON HARBOR, Mich. -- A gas leak in Benton Harbor forced officials to shut down M-39 and Napier Avenue for a few hours on Tuesday afternoon.
Someone smelled gas near the Dairy Queen and called it in.
Michigan Gas Utilities checked out the complaint and found a break in a gas line along the road.
"Nobody was evacuated and the gas people had people monitoring all the buildings and so far everything is good," Steve Knuth of the Benton Township Fire Department said.
The gas company said it was a rare gas leak. They're looking for what caused the leak.
