Avalanche on mountain in France kills 9, injures 8

FRANCE -- Nine are reported dead and eight are injured after an avalanche on a French mountain.

The avalanche happened just before sunrise on Thursday.

Teams of rescuers, French police, mountain guides and even sniffer dogs are still trying to locate people.

The name of the mountain in English translates to "Cursed Mountain."

This is the deadliest climbing disaster in the region in a decade.
