Arrest made, charges filed following ISP investigation into January police chase crash

ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. -- A 26-year-old Indianapolis woman is in custody facing charges in connection with a Jan. 13 pursuit involving the Elkhart County Sheriff's Office.

The suspect, Nakia Adams, fled from deputies before crashing into another vehicle at the intersection of Cassopolis and Bristol Streets.

The Indiana State Police was asked to investigate the incident and recently submitted charges against Adams to the Elkhart County Prosecutor's Office.

A warrant was issued for Adams on Monday.

On Tuesday morning, Adams was arrested at her Indianapolis home by the U.S. Marshals Service and taken to the Marion County Jail to await extradition.

Adams is charged with Resisting Law Enforcement Causing Serious Bodily Injury and Causing Serious Bodily Injury with a Schedule 1 or 2 Substance in their Body.
