Argument leads to 23-year-old being shot in Michigan City

MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. -- The Michigan City Police Department reports officers working in Washington Park on Sunday reported multiple gunshots were being fired near the north end of the parking lot around 8:44 p.m.

Additional officers then responded to assist.

A 23-year-old Michigan City man was found to have suffered a gunshot wound following an argument, according to authorities' investigation.

The man's injury was deemed non-life threatening.

Officers on scene collected evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Police say two vehicles parked in the lot also received damage.

The Investigative Division was contacted for assistance and assigned to this case.

The investigation is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Police say while specific details of this case can’t be released, they can confirm this was an isolated incident and not a random act of violence.
