African Children's Choir takes on Goshen as they travel to over 100 cities
GOSHEN, Ind. -- The African Children's Choir started touring in 1984, traveling to over 100 cities yearly. This year there are 17 performers, all between ages eight and ten. The current organization leader, Tamale, use to be a performer himself.
His story like many of the children now singing, started from a place of poverty. The opportunities to perform helped shape his life. He now uses his second chance at life by guiding current members with a positive outlook and hope.
Tamale says, "I was in the 30th African Children's Choir, and I traveled in 2008 that's 17 years ago. And growing up I really admire to have a better life, and that I have right now because the African Children's Choir enabled me and supported me through school."
On Friday, the kids will travel to Goshen to perform at Siloam Fellowship at 7 p.m. that night. After Goshen, the kids will travel to Marion Indiana for performances starting Sunday, Nov. 2.
During the nine months of rehearsal, Tamale got to know the kids he was once like, and do what his former leaders did, help these kids chase their dreams.
Tamale says, "I know what they're going through and what they experience is because I was once like them, so being able to pour out myself into them and be an impact is what fulfills me"
