ELKHART COUNTY, Ind. --A local charity, who helps those with intellectual and developmental disabilities learn job and life skills, is now the owner of a new building.
The former disabled American veteran’s building in Elkhart is now going to be home to another center hub for ADEC.
According to ADEC CEO Chris Kingsley, as soon as he came across the building, he knew it was the perfect fit because it was designed to be accessible and modifiable.
This new addition is one of many locations spread across Michiana and will serve as a place of many services like the Elkhart Day program, Skills and Training program, Therapy Services and ADEC’s Summer Camp program.
“It feels great to get in this space and to think about what it can be. This really is a space that we're designing for the future of our services. This represents forward movement for ADEC and for how we work in our community and for how we support people with intellectual and developmental disabilities. It's going to represent growth, but it also represents changes in model to get more and more community based in the work that we do in this facility is a great place to do that from,” Kingsley said.
Renovations will begin in May.
