A tropical garden in our own backyard!

When I was a little kid I wanted to be a botanist for a little while.  I have always loved plants and flowers.  I am the one person who genuinely enjoys walking around gardens and have always sought out the local botanical gardens to see.  

I finally made it to the indoor garden in South Bend.  I had heard so much in the news about the Century Plant finally getting a bloom earlier this year, but never made it over to the Conservatory to see for myself!

Lucky for me, I did not miss the orchids in bloom.  They are my favorite flower, and I was so excited to see a whole room full of them!

Another unexpected treat was the entire room devoted to cacti!  I have three cacti in my apartment along with a large aloe plant, so it was neat to see that I am not the only one with a love for the plant life of the desert!

I bought an orchid cactus to take home...and am excited to see if I can keep it alive long enough to see it bloom!
