Lineman suffers electric shock, severe burns, airlifted to Chicago

PLYMOUTH, Ind. -- The Marshall County Sheriff's Department reports deputies responded to a call regarding a man in a bucket truck who suffered an electric shock while installing a fiber optic cable on a utility pole and was unconscious on Thursday, June 12, around 10:56 a.m. in the 20000 block of 7th Road near Union Road in Plymouth.

Plymouth Fire and EMS also responded to the scene.

The caller told authorities they were eventually able to get the bucket lowered and the man onto the ground to start CPR.

The report states once emergency personnel arrived on scene, they took over lifesaving efforts.

Authorities say eventually a pulse was found along with shallow breathing.

The man was then air lifted to a Chicago hospital for further treatment.

The victim also suffered severe burns on his upper body.
