Van Buren County Sheriff\'s Office

VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. -- The Van Buren County Sheriff's Office reports deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash in front of Paw Paw High School on Red Arrow Highway around 2:45 p.m. Thursday.

Authorities say initial calls stated a woman in one of the vehicles was unresponsive.

Deputies, EMS, and firefighters arrived on scene to find both vehicles with heavy front-end damage and a 51-year-old woman trapped in her car. Deputies say she was not alert at that time.

The Paw Paw Fire Department then extricated the woman safely from the car.

The initial investigation determined a black sedan, driven by the 51-year-old woman, was traveling east on Red Arrow Highway.

The second vehicle, occupied by an 18-year-old man and 16-year-old boy, was traveling west on Red Arrow Highway.

Deputies say the investigation showed the black sedan crossed the center line, striking the teens' vehicle head-on.

The crash caused both cars to spin around, facing opposite directions.

Red Arrow Highway was closed for around one and a half hours while the scene was investigated and cleared.

The 51-year-old woman was taken to Bronson for treatment of serious injuries, while the teens were treated on scene by EMS and released.

The crash remains under investigation.
