GOSHEN, Ind. - A 93-year-old Michiana veteran is being sent on the trip or a lifetime.

ABC57 was there and spoke to him before his special send-off before he takes off to the nation’s capital.

Korean War Vet, Glenwood “Jake” Schrock looked back on his time serving our country as a U.S Army Mechanic, fixing vehicles and generators during the Korean War from 1948 to 1952.

He now resides at Waterford Crossing Assisted Living Facility in Goshen, where a sendoff party was held before he left for Ft. Wayne to fly to the Nation’s Capital, Tuesday Afternoon.

Before he was sent off in style, the humble Korean War Vet shared stories of his time overseas and got emotional looking through pictures and reflecting on memories of the past 93 years.

He is excited for his latest adventure, as he embarks on an Honor Flight leaving from Ft. Wayne to Washington D.C alongside his grandson, Jason.

There he will be celebrated for his service alongside other veterans, more than 70 years later.

He told ABC57 how honored he was to be chosen for the once in a lifetime trip, with help from Honor Flight and Live a Dream program at Waterford Crossing,

"Well, it was kind of hard to believe that I was singled out for this, because I was just a normal veteran as far as I'm concerned, nothing special about me, but today there is today, and I appreciate it to no end,” said Schrock.
