92-year-old woman dies in two-vehicle crash

COOLSPRING TOWNSHIP, Ind. - The La Porte County Sheriff's Office reports that deputies responded to the 8300 west block of CR 400 North, for a two-vehicle crash on Sunday at 1:58 p.m. in Coolspring Township.

Authorities say their initial on-scene investigation determined a 2016 Audi, driven by 74-year-old Cynthia L. Schoof of La Porte, was traveling east on CR 400 North, when it traveled left of center into the westbound lane of travel.

A 2021 Subaru, driven by 68-year-old Susan A. Hall of La Porte, was traveling west on CR 400 North, when a collision between the Audi and Subaru occurred in the westbound lane.

Officials say a passenger of the Audi, 75-year-old Jackie Frankowski of La Porte, sustained an upper body injury.

A passenger of the Subaru, 92-year-old Carol Lukes of La Porte, also sustained an upper body injury.

Frankowski and Lukes were both taken to an area hospital.

Deputies later learned that Lukes had passed away at the hospital from injuries sustained during the crash.

There were no reported injuries to Schoof and Hall from the crash.
