UPDATE: 47-year-old Gurley Leep employee arrested for felony theft

SOUTH BEND, Ind. -- The St. Joseph County Police Department reports their Warrants Team located a wanted woman in the 900 block of E. Fox Street in South Bend on Thursday morning.
The woman, identified as 47-year-old Marie Brumbaugh, was wanted for Theft. a Level 5 Felony.
The theft charge relates to theft of something of at least $50,000 in value.
She was released on a cash bond of $2,500 with a promise to appear in court Friday.
The probable cause affidavit related to Brumbaugh's theft charge reveals it stems from a vehicle theft report on Nov. 14, 2024, at Gurley Leep.
Authorities say an employee with Gurley Leep filed a vehicle theft report for two Subarus that were missing from the dealership.
The employee then showed responding officers two rental agreements for the Subarus. The employee explained the agreements are usually made with customers who need a loaner car while work is done on their vehicle.
The employee then told police that when customers need a loaner, they're directed to Brumbaugh, who was an employee that handled and tracked those vehicles. She was the only one who knew when vehicles were off the property according to the employee.
Brumbaugh was then interviewed by police.
Court document state she admitted she made rental agreements with a man who was a friend she owes money to for pills.
Brumbaugh told police she'd been doing this for over a year, and she estimated she had given her friend 10 cars in that timeframe.
She went on to tell police she was the only one doing that at Gurley Leep.
Brumbaugh went on to tell police she'd been buying pills from her friend for several years, and owed him money, so she felt obligated to help him to try and pay off her debt.
Gurley Leep estimated that Brumbaugh cost the company $61,267.21 from lending 12 vehicles to people she knew for free.
The two missing Subarus were recovered and found to be involved in two separate crimes in South Bend.
One of the Subarus was involved in a shooting and had bullet holes in it.
